FlySafair wins big at this year’s CAIA awards

FlySafair, South Africa’s most on-time airline, has been awarded bragging rights after scooping five prestigious awards at this year’s Civil Aviation Industry Awards (CAIA). The awards took place at the Focus Rooms in Modderfontein, Gauteng, on Friday, 10 November 2023.

The CAIA awards are an opportunity for aviators to showcase their or their company’s capabilities, innovation and excellence. The awards make a welcome return after a three-year hiatus prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

FlySafair was the winner in the following categories: the National Company of the Year, Best Airline Operator/Airline, Aviation Maintenance Organisation Award: Medium – Large, Aviation Professional, which was awarded to FlySafair CEO, Elmar Conradie, and the coveted public vote for Best Airline Award, which is voted for by members of the public. This was the first time that members of the public were invited by The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) to vote for their Best Airline and Best Airport under the Public Vote category.

The awards bring together the aviation industry and its partners to showcase, recognise and celebrate the members of the industry who have shown consistency and commitment in promoting aviation safety, security, environmental sustainability, transformation, innovation, research and development. The awards celebrate the aviation sector’s excellence and compliance, honouring the people and processes that contribute to a safe and secure civil aviation system.

This year, SACAA celebrated 25 years of existence as an audit conducted earlier in the year by the International Civil Aviation on the country’s aviation oversight systems confirmed South Africa as having the best systems on the continent and among the leading 20 States in the world.

“FlySafair is honoured to be recognised by our industry peers and the public for our contribution to the aviation sector in South Africa. We are proud of the dedication and work that our team has put into keeping FlySafair an industry leader. These accolades are a testament to our ongoing commitment to deliver excellent service to our customers at all times,” says Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair.
