Mineral-Infused Water – Not Just a Trend but a Vital Component for Optimal Health

As South Africa’s water crisis intensifies, it begs of us to prioritise the importance of learning as much as possible about all things relating to water and the said crisis.  Particularly becoming aware of how much at risk we are.

We’ve all heard the statement, Water is Life.  Yet, the meaning of this statement is not interrogated enough and now may be the right time to dive in deep into understanding exactly why and how much our bodies need water.

Water is life because it aids with the efficiency of these essential functions:

  • Distribution of nutrients throughout the body
  • Regulation of bio-electrical impulses
  • Elimination of toxins
  • Digestion
  • Hydration of all cells in the body
  • Regulation of blood pressure and temperature
  • Energizing the body.

But water is unable to deliver on these promises without sufficient minerals and trace elements such zinc, magnesium, iron, copper and calcium – and many more – in it.  This is tragic news considering it is widely reported that some purification processes remove bacteria and the much-needed minerals.

Put differently, quenching that thirst with clean, bottled water is not enough to support your body’s biological hydration needs.  Hydration is what makes water an invaluable commodity to us living beings.

Studies show that dehydration causes illness in varying degrees – starting with easy-to-overlook ailments such as chronic fatigue, poor concentration, constipation, irritability, poor sleep, and cravings.

“And with long-term chronic dehydration. The body is forced to ration water to the most important bodily functions and over time, dehydration erodes the body’s organs and may lead to life-threatening conditions such as obesity, high cholesterol, arterial plaque, strokes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, heart failure, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, juvenile diabetes, multiple sclerosis, cancer and Alzheimer’s.”   Says Louisa Von Moltke, the co-founder of Agua é Vida and advocate for hydration.

She added that these claims are based on decades of research including that of renowned Iranian water activist, Dr Batmanghelidj who underlined the importance of hydration – as means to prevent diseases.

It’d be disingenuous to talk about water being life and not point out the depth of the said water crises.  According to the SA’s Blue Drop 2023 audit report,  the quality of the country’s drinkable water is getting worse.  Nearly half (46%) of all water supply systems pose acute human health risks because of bacteria or other pathogens in the drinking water supply.  The report also found that more than two-thirds (67.6%) of all wastewater treatment works are close to failure. Furthermore, it reported that over 47% of all clean and treated water was lost through leaks or could not be accounted for.

In short, South Africa’s tap water cannot be trusted, and the infrastructure is in a diabolic state.

So, where to from here?

  • Get educated about the quality of water you are drinking – at work, at home – as much as possible. Don’t just assume that bottled water equals good quality with sufficient hydration.
  • Use a water purifier to improve quality of your tap water and add drops of minerals from a mineral concentrate that you can buy from a reliable health store such as Faithful To Nature.
  • Source your drinking water from a brand that advocates for water that is mineral infused as a baseline such as Agua é Vida . Agua é Vida acknowledges that the purification process strips water of its vital minerals – so, after purification they infuse 84 minerals and trace elements into their water – making sure that you and your family get sufficient hydration to remain healthy.

It maybe that you are thinking about costs attached to this and that’s understandable.  It all boils down to the reality that there’s no price that can be attached to your health.

Invigorate your health with every sip! Drink smarter, live better, and harness the life-enhancing properties of mineral-infused water.
