The CEO of Naspers has resigned with immediate effect.

Bob van Dijk has left his roles as CEO and member of the boards of both Naspers and Prosus, the firms have announced.

Effectively, his resignation is effective today, Monday, September 18, 2023.

Van Dijk has served as the CEO of Prosus since its IPO in 2019 and of Naspers since 2014.

Van Dijk’s resignation, according to the companies, was mutually agreed upon by the boards and the former CEO.

According to the firms, Van Dijk agreed to assist with the transition and will continue to serve as a consultant until 30 September 2024.

Ervin Tu, group chief investment officer, will take over as interim CEO of Naspers and Prosus.

The businesses reaffirmed that their strategic objectives have not changed and that they are on track to fulfill their commitments.

This includes continuing the open-ended share repurchase program and attaining consolidated e-commerce trading profit during the first half of the upcoming fiscal year.

“The Boards of Prosus and Naspers want to thank Bob for his leadership over a full decade,” chairman Koos Bekker said in a statement released to the media shortly after the shareholder announcement.

“During this time, significant firms in payments, food delivery, and classifieds were founded, and we also forayed into a number of new industries. We value Bob’s contributions and wish him luck in his future endeavors.
