Backup power solution for homes

[Johannesburg, 26 January 2022]  Huawei unveiled significant advancements to backup power solutions with up to 45kWh of capacity.

At its South African Mate 50 Pro launch event, Huawei featured updates to its iSitePower-M backup power solution, featuring storage of up to 45kWh and a maximum output of 15kW.

The iSitePower-M enhancements, according to Nick Lusson, Huawei’s vice president of digital power for Eastern Africa, offer an extensible backup power option to combat load-shedding.

By allowing users to link its energy modules in parallel, Huawei has tripled the storage capacity of its stacking backup solution, raising the maximum capacity to 45kWh.

“It can go up to 15kW and 45kWh. That’s big enough for even the biggest families in South Africa,” Lusson said.

The Power-M hybrid power system, according to the company, can top out the batteries with quick charging in three hours and deliver a continuous power source for up to 24 hours.

Huawei stated that Power-M “supports a wide range of voltages from 90V to 300V and uses the safest electrochemical cell material, lithium iron phosphate.”

Because of this power, it is a secure and dependable option for a domestic power backup system.

Grid, solar, diesel generator, and battery power are all supported sources.

Huawei states the Power-M can switch between power sources almost instantaneously with an energy switchover time of fewer than ten milliseconds.

“You won’t even notice that a change has happened,” Lusson said.

The Huawei iSitePower-M comes with a ten-year warranty, and Lusson said the company’s warranty policy is not to repair the unit but to replace it.

Owners of Power-M devices can use the FusionSolar smartphone app from Huawei to check the status of their system at any time.

According to Lusson, owners can access real-time data, monitor performance, and manage their diesel generators using the FusionSolar app from any location in the world.

In terms of uses, Huawei claims that the 5kW system is perfect for powering a small shop’s air conditioner, cash register, fan, and microwave.

Air con, a tv, an electric fan, and a refrigerator may all be powered by a 10kW device, while a bigger 15kW version is perfect for offices.
