adidas Unveils “Road to Paris” Docuseries Featuring Skateboarder Boipelo Awuah’s Journey to the 2024 Olympics

adidas is thrilled to announce the release of its original docuseries, “Road to Paris.” This captivating six-part series offers an intimate look into the lives of six distinguished adidas athletes as they prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, set to take place in July.

“Road to Paris” features a diverse group of athletes, each bringing a unique story of dedication, perseverance, and triumph. The docuseries aims to inspire viewers by showcasing the relentless pursuit of excellence and the personal sacrifices these athletes make to achieve their dreams.

 

This episode focuses on the youngest of the group Boipelo Awuah, her story is filled with youthful energy and the spirit of breaking barriers in skateboarding. With a burning passion for a sport as niche as skateboarding, the name Boipelo Awuah will be etched in our memories for decades to come. At just 19, fearless skateboarder Boipelo Awuah has managed to write her name in the history books of extreme sports with her unparalleled skill and unwavering determination.

The Kimberley-born-and-bread skateboarder, rightfully nicknamed ‘The  Diamond of Kimberley’ was set to make her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Summer  Olympics, but suffered a pelvic fracture during practice that forced her to withdraw from the competition.  Despite this setback, Boipelo remained undefeated. Instead, she channeled her energy into recovering and reemerging stronger than ever.

In the years leading up to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Boipelo focused on training, with redemption as her new goal, she pushed beyond her limits, perfecting her technique and expanding her repertoire of tricks. Her meticulously planned 45-second routine includes her signature trick, the noseslide – a move that took her over a year to perfect. Her personality, reflects her unique style and passion for the sport.

“Alongside my training, I’ve become a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in skateboarding,” says Boipelo. “I use my platform to inspire the next generation of athletes from underrepresented backgrounds. My goal is to make competitive skateboarding accessible and easy for females to compete in. As the first Black female in Africa to compete at this level, I’m beyond honoured to represent Black females – and to pave the way for future generations to follow in my footsteps.”
