Centennial Schools Grade 5 learner, Gauri Singh, is already making a name for herself in the entrepreneurship space through her growing business, Gauri’s Gifts of Joy business. At just 11 years old, Gauri has successfully built a gifting business that supplies products to a range of retailers and businesses, including Spar Polofields, Spar Strubensvalley, Spar Retail, Spar Palm Court, Blooms and Gift, Engen garages in Crowthorne and Kyalami on Main, Cellfix, Mia’s Nails, and Kismet Spices.
Demonstrating an impressive understanding of trends and consumer interests, Gauri continuously evolves her product offerings. This year, she is focusing on Mother’s Day gifting, while previous collections have included Labubus and jewellery. Her entrepreneurial journey reflects creativity, adaptability, and a strong business mindset from a young age.
Looking ahead, Gauri has ambitious plans for the future, with dreams of owning her own bakery and launching a skincare range.
Shaun Fuchs, founder and CEO of Centennial Schools, believes that South Africa’s schools hold the key to transforming our entrepreneurial landscape. “Our education system has remained largely unchanged for decades,” he says. “We continue to teach for employment, not for innovation. But if we want to create a generation of job creators rather than job seekers, we need to embed entrepreneurial learning into the curriculum.”
At Centennial Schools, entrepreneurship is not an extracurricular activity. Students engage in practical, project-based learning that integrates essential knowledge in marketing, financial management, innovation and networking.
