The House of BNG’s inaugural Retreat celebrates launch of new Mimosa

On the 7th of March 2026 Franschhoek’s mountainous backdrop set the scene for the inaugural Retreat at The House of BNG with a brunch celebrating the brand’s newest offering of the ready-to-drink Mimosa. The afternoon was an immersive embodiment of African luxury, designed to nourish mind, body and soul through

intentional programming that balanced creativity and meaningful connection. From floral arrangement workshops to a wine-tasting masterclass among many activities, the Retreat offered guests an opportunity to commemorate with a glass of sparkling wine in hand.

An intimate selection of guests arrived at the beautifully styled La Paris Estate where several variants from the House of BNG Mimosa were on offer, with a particular focus on the new citrusy offering. Guiding the day were co-hosts TV presenter Kuhle Adams and marketing whizz Thulane Hadebe, whose warm and engaging presence carried guests through each moment. Throughout the day roving reporter Neo Ndemande conducted lively interviews with guests, with real-time documentation bringing social media audiences at home right into the heart of the action. DJs PinkyGirl and ShillyMingz took listeners through a sonic journey, fusing house music, amapiano, R&B and bubblegum all in one cohesive line-up.

The impeccably dressed guests honoured the ‘Mimosa Muse’ dress code, and all were engrossed in a series of activities that encouraged creativity, including:

  • Floral arrangement workshops inviting creativity
  • Essential oil blending sessions designed to ground and restore
  • Massage treatments offering deep relaxation and release
  • A beading station where guests personalized keychains.

A standout moment of the programme was the winetasting masterclass, where guests were able to appreciate a selection of the House’s offerings. Lead by brand custodian Bonang Matheba alongside the House’s mixologist Prayer Moyo, the masterclass educated guests on the complexity of the Méthode Cap Classique category – one in which the brand’s Brut variant has earned an impressive 87/100 rating from WineMag.co.za and a 93 point scoring by leading South African wine authority Michael Fridjhon (a feat only achieved by less than 3% of the wines he reviews). This is in addition to a 90 point score for the Brut Rosé, affirming the brand’s attention to craft and credibility in the premium wine landscape.

Founded in 2019 the House of BNG continues to redefine how consumers engage with premium drinks brand through storytelling and experiential luxury. The Retreat reflected this vision — spotlighting the Mimosa as a fully-fledged expression of intentional celebration.

Reflecting on the experience, Bonang Matheba shared that the Retreat was designed to create a much-need space to remind South Africans that their excellence deserves celebration. “The House of BNG was inspired by my own love for the process of wine-making, but it is the love of every single of person who purchases our products that has made the House what it is today. The Retreat was our way of reflecting that love back to our people.” Matheba adds.

Through a series of strategic partnerships with household favourites including much-loved fabric softener Comfort, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, online merchant Takealot and beauty brand L’Oréal the experience catered to the needs of each guest, treating all in attendance as VIPs. As guests departed the iconoclastic venue, they carried with them an armful of goodies, including the highly coveted House of BNG cooler box filled with branded items like film cameras and wine glasses, handheld steamers, scented candles and products from Comfort, Takealot and L’Oréal. Guests could also take home the bouquets, essential oils blends and personalized keyrings they had made over the course of the afternoon.

Positioned as the first of many, the Retreat made sure that the new Mimosa is the talk on everybody’s lips. Available via Takealot, the four pack of single serve Mimosa cans retails at R259.00. The bright and convenient variant is sunshine in liquid form, turning any location into an occasion.
