From Murder Mysteries to Mega-Deals: here’s what BBC Brit shows we’re hooked on

January has a reputation for being a bit…much! Between the New Year resolutions and the return to the daily grind, what we really need isn’t more pressure, it’s a sanctuary.

If you’re cancelling going out plans like us, here are some great watches we’ve been indulging on that have got us hooked. Whether you’re a die-hard Barnaby fan or you’re ready to see if you can out-dragon the Dragons, here’s what’s currently living rent-free in our heads.

Our Newest Thrill: Wheel of Fortune:

There’s nothing quite like the mid-week dopamine hit of shouting letters at the TV screen. Get your vocal cords ready, because Wheel of Fortune, hosted by the loved Irish presenter Graham Norton, is back and will test of your vocabulary under pressure.

Main Event: Wednesdays at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv channel 120)

The “How are they still alive?” Club: Midsomer Murders:

We have to talk about Midsomer Murders (S25). Twenty-five seasons in, and the villages are still picturesque, the murders are still incredibly creative, and we still haven’t figured out how to spot the killer before the second ad break. We’re starting the year by challenging ourselves: can we actually beat DCI Barnaby to the punch this time?

Catch the new season on Thursdays at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv channel 120).

Our Collective “Happy Place”: All Creatures Great and Small:

Life is loud, and sometimes you just need to watch a vet help a cow in the 1930s. All Creatures Great and Small (S6) is our go-to “weighted blanket” show. It’s wholesome, it’s beautiful, and it reminds us that kindness still matters. If you need a Sunday night reset, this is it.

Catch it on Sundays at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv channel 120)

The Big Pitch: Dragons’ Den

Fresh ideas, big risks, and life-changing deals. In Dragons’ Den (S22), ambitious entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to five multimillionaire investors, hoping to walk away with an investment – or face a brutal reality check.

Tune in Fridays at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv channel 120)

What’s on the Radar?

If you’re looking for your next obsession, here is how the rest of our watchlist is looking on BBC Brit on DStv Channel 120:

Father Brown (S13): The parish’s finest sleuth returns to prove that the most unassuming person in the room is usually the smartest. (Starts Monday 2nd Feb, 20:00).

Hotel Portofino: A new drama set in Italy in the 1920s at a quintessentially British hotel in the beautiful town of Portofino (starts Sunday 15 February at 20:00)

The Chelsea Detective (S3): Because who doesn’t love a detective who lives on a houseboat in London’s wealthiest borough? (Starts Tuesday 17th Feb, 20:00).
