Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga proudly announces that its annual Breast Cancer
Awareness High Tea has raised an incredible R130,000 in support of PinkDrive, reinforcing
the hotel’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference through its Responsible
Business initiatives.
The event, held in partnership with the Estée Lauder Group of Companies and Women of
Africa, brought together guests for an uplifting and purpose-driven afternoon dedicated to
awareness, empowerment, and giving back. The funds raised will go directly toward
PinkDrive’s vital work in providing free breast cancer screenings, education, and early
detection services across South Africa.
Hosted at the hotel’s elegant Conference Hall, the High Tea featured powerful talks by
Advocate Pria Hassan, Founder of Women of Africa, Janice Benecke – the heart of PinkDrive
in Durban, and Dr. Marion Algar of Busamed Hospital, who all shared heartfelt insights on
women’s health, empowerment, and the importance of proactive healthcare. Maeshni
Naicker, star of Keeping Up with the Kandasamys, added her signature warmth and humour, while Delia Kroll guided the event with grace and charm.
Guests enjoyed a decadent high tea experience while participating in a raffle and live auction with over 80 items up for grabs. Together these activities generated the majority of the funds raised. The event was made possible through the generous support of numerous sponsors, including Estée Lauder Group of Companies, Women of Africa, GHD, Château Gâteaux, Lelive, Hollywood Foundation, Birkenstock, The Source, Hollard, Babushka, Lil-lets, Dr. Nishanie Maharaj, The Flying Dress Durban, IQ, Lift Airline, Leechem, and many more esteemed partners.

“This event is a reflection of the incredible power of community and collaboration,” says Fara Hamid, Marketing Manager at Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga. “Bringing together brands, individuals, and organizations with a shared purpose allows us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer. Responsible Business is at the heart of what we do at Radisson Blu, and we’re deeply grateful to every guest and sponsor who helped turn compassion into impact.”
Last year’s event raised R25,000 for PinkDrive – a milestone that has now more than
quintupled, thanks to the overwhelming generosity and engagement of this year’s attendees and partners. The funds raised will enable PinkDrive to expand its reach, ensuring that more South Africans have access to life-saving education and screening services.
Through this collaboration, The Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga continues to exemplify its commitment to People, Community and the Planet. These are the pillars of the Radisson Hotel Group’s Responsible Business framework, demonstrating how hospitality can drive meaningful change beyond the walls of the hotel.
Radisson Blu Hotel Durban Umhlanga invites guests, partners, and the broader community to support this initiative and stand together in the fight against breast cancer.
