While a Code Yellow weather warning urged residents to stay indoors, 22 of the world’s best kitesurfers harnessed the power of Storm Amy for the sixth edition of Red Bull Megaloop which is one of the most extreme events in kiteboarding.
With winds topping 100 km/h, 3-meter waves, and wind force 8 conditions, athletes delivered jaw-dropping Megaloops, high-flying tricks that launch riders over 15 meters into the air while sending their kite a full 360 degrees. Spectators on the beach and viewers on Red Bull TV witnessed an unforgettable display of skill and bravery.
- Winner – Men’s Division: Lorenzo Casati (Italy) soared to victory with a final-round performance that reached heights of more than 20 meters.
- Winner – Women’s Division: Zara Hoogenraad (Netherlands) made history as the first-ever female Red Bull Megaloop champion, showcasing the rapid rise of women in extreme kitesurfing.
The competition’s unique “green light” format; triggered just 48 hours in advance when conditions are perfect and brought elite riders from around the globe to the Dutch North Sea for a one-day, action-packed spectacle judged on extremity and style.
