After a year marked by survival, triumph, and unstoppable creativity, award-winning singer-songwriter Kaylow announces the release of his brand-new single “Respect”, featuring the late DJ Sumbody.
Recorded before DJ Sumbody’s tragic passing in 2022, “Respect” is a high-energy collaboration that captures the effortless chemistry between two friends who shared both music and brotherhood. Kaylow’s unmistakable vocals soar over DJ Sumbody’s signature grooves, creating a track that is equal parts soulful and dancefloor-ready.
The single’s release carries even deeper meaning given Kaylow’s personal journey. In September 2024, the beloved artist survived a life-threatening accident that forced him into a long and difficult recovery. Emerging from that experience with a renewed sense of purpose, Kaylow is determined to keep pushing boundaries, creating music that inspires resilience and celebrates life.
This new chapter comes on the back of massive success: his hit single “24 Hours” recently achieved triple platinum status, cementing Kaylow’s place as one of South Africa’s most impactful voices in modern soul and house.
“When I listen to ‘Respect,’ I hear more than just a song. I hear a moment in time with Sumbody, a friend, a brother, a visionary. I also hear my own survival and the gift of being here to share this music. This release is about gratitude, energy, and keeping the joy of collaboration alive,” says Kaylow.
“Respect” will be available on all major streaming platforms from 19th September 2025.
