Crispy Skateboards is calling on all visual artists in Gauteng to participate in a week-long art competition that celebrates creativity, hustle, and community. Artists will have just under 7 days to create or submit their best original artwork, using their own materials and unique style. There are no rules—just raw expression.
The competition kicks off at midnight on Saturday, April 26, 2025, and runs until midnight on Thursday, May 1, 2025. This isn’t just about competing—it’s about showing up, being seen, and connecting with other artists who move with the same fire.
Who’s Crispy?
At the end of the competition, three winners will be selected:
-
One chosen by the Crispy Skateboards team
-
One selected by Origin Art Gallery
-
And one voted for by the public
Each winner will receive a blank Crispy skateboard as their next canvas. They’ll set their own price for their artwork, determining how much their vision is worth.
The finished boards will debut on May 8 at The “Not an Afterparty” at Democracy Bar in Illovo—a one-night, high-energy event with punk bands, graffiti, skate ramps, and the people who live the culture. After the party, the boards will be exhibited for the rest of the month at the Motion and Expression exhibition at Origin Art Gallery, Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank.
