Uber Eats and urban infrastructure provider CitiPods are piloting an urban hub for couriers at Constantia Village in Cape Town, designed to support a cleaner and more organised environment for the local community while providing a dedicated space for couriers to access essential on-road amenities between orders.
The pilot offers independent couriers across all delivery platforms access to sheltered seating, phone charging and sanitation facilities – all at no cost to the courier. By transitioning waiting areas away from public pavements, the hub also contributes to reducing sidewalk congestion.
As part of Uber’s broader commitment to earner empowerment, this initiative provides a supportive structure for independent couriers operating in the area, particularly during Cape Town’s winter months. Ultimately, the pilot demonstrates how innovative spatial planning can keep commercial spaces orderly and accessible for all who share them.

The Constantia Village hub is the first pilot under the initiative, with CitiPods inviting landowners and corporate partners to explore opportunities to host or sponsor similar facilities in other locations.
