Apex Education Positions Scalable Schooling Model During Visit by Western Cape Leadership

Apex Education recently hosted Minister David Maynier and Premier Alan Winde at Apex Stellenbosch, placing a spotlight on its scalable, cost-effective model for delivering high-quality education.

The visit comes at a time of growing demand for school placements across the Western Cape, where expanding access to quality education remains a key priority. Against this backdrop, Apex Education is demonstrating how innovative school design and delivery can unlock additional capacity without compromising academic outcomes.

At the core of the Apex High School offering, is a blended learning approach that integrates CAPS-aligned digital instruction with teacher-led support. At the primary school level, the model is grounded in strong foundational teaching methods, and innovative classroom design. This enables a structured and efficient learning environment where learners progress at an appropriate pace while receiving targeted support.

The model is intentionally designed for scale. Classrooms accommodate up to 100 learners, supported by one qualified teacher and two facilitators, with each learner equipped with a device. Continuous assessment and real-time data enable immediate academic intervention, strengthening learner performance and engagement.

A key differentiator of the Apex model is its ability to deliver quality education at a significantly lower cost than traditional schooling models. By rethinking classroom structures and leveraging technology, Apex operates more efficiently while maintaining strong academic standards. This efficiency creates a practical pathway for expanding access, particularly in high-growth areas where additional school places are needed.

Looking ahead, Apex Education has set out a clear and ambitious growth strategy: to establish 10 schools over the next 10 years, collectively serving 10,000 learners per year. Each school is designed to reach financial sustainability at full capacity, ensuring long-term viability and impact.

“Apex is not just building schools – we are building a system that can sustainably deliver quality education at scale,” said Jana du Plooy, founding CEO of Apex Education. “This model is designed to grow while maintaining the standards that define quality education.”

In addition to its academic impact, Apex Education contributes to local economic development through job creation, infrastructure investment, and ongoing support of local suppliers.

The visit to Apex Stellenbosch highlights the role that innovative, scalable models can play in strengthening the education system and expanding access to quality learning opportunities across the Western Cape.
