Bidvest International Logistics Launches Rosslyn Container Yard in Strategic Partnership with BMW and Maersk

Bidvest International Logistics (BIL) has officially launched its new Rosslyn Container Yard, unveiled on 17 November 2025 in partnership with BMW Group South Africa and Maersk. The development marks a significant investment in advanced logistics infrastructure and demonstrates the power of long-term collaboration within the automotive supply chain. It spans an impressive 40,000 square metres and is purpose-built to optimise container handling.

The facility is designed to accelerate trade, support regional integration, and position the industry for lasting growth. “Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, and our vision is clear: to be an economic enabler that strengthens supply chains, creates efficiencies, and opens doors for growth well beyond a single client,” says Marcus Ellappan, Director of Overland Logistics, BIL.

Custom-built to support BMW Group South Africa’s production ecosystem, the Rosslyn Container Yard is engineered to optimise storage, movement, and oversight of high-value automotive components. “We will be handling and storing their containers, as well as supporting the logistics activities that feed directly into their production operations,” explains Marcus Ellappan.

Located within a high-access logistics corridor, the facility improves speed, security, and efficiency across export flows. “A major advantage is the yard’s proximity to the BMW Rosslyn Plant. For a 24-hour operation, this significantly reduces risk and ensures tighter control over inbound and outbound movement,” says Petrus Gerber, Supply Chain Solutions Manager, BIL.

For Maersk, the launch underscores the strength of an established three-way partnership and its commitment to operational excellence. “This creates value for all partners. With a relationship spanning 30 years between BMW, Bidvest International Logistics and Maersk, the goal is to deliver a seamless, high-performing supply chain from end to end,” says Bent Boel, Key Client Director, Maersk.

The new Rosslyn Container Yard also expands BIL’s capacity to support additional clients beyond BMW, offering premium container-handling, reduced congestion, and improved turnaround times.
