Swipe right on your next home. New online property platform makes finding your perfect property match easy.

A new South African property platform, The Foyer, has launched to bring precision to house-hunting by matching seekers with listings that meet their needs to a tee. The launch comes as researchshows 71% of consumers expect personalised interactions and 76% get frustrated when they don’t get them. This points to the the demand for smarter personalised searches across high-consideration purchases like property.

Other than consumer expectations, many sellers still struggle to deliver tailored experiences. Approximately 96% of retailers report challenges with personalisation, while four out of five see positive ROI when they get it right. Conversion lifts of up to 50% are cited where personalised filters and recommendations are used. Against that backdrop, and for the team at The Foyer, it makes sense to provide a personalised matchmaker platform for homes as opposed to a conventional listing board. The platform’s matching process is protected by a South African patent (2024/09645) for its unique property-matching algorithm and search mechanism. This is the technology that personalises listings based on the user’s detailed preferences and the weighted importance of those preferences (for example, “wooden window frames are essential” vs. “solar panels are a nice-to-have”).

“The Foyer was born from an idea where buying or renting a home is part logic, part heart,” says Alissa Terblanche, Managing Director of The Foyer. “Traditional sites make it easy to sort by price and bedrooms, but the details that decide a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ (like fibre, a north-facing garden, wooden window frames, solar readiness) are hard to surface. We’ve built a way to capture those nuances and weight them by importance, so people spend less time scrolling and more time considering a short list that actually works for them.”

The platform went public earlier in October 2025 and is rolling out listings region by region as agents and owners adopt the more detailed input process the system requires. “It may take a little longer to load a property on The Foyer, but that extra detail is precisely what produces higher-quality, better-matched leads,” Terblanche adds.

Angelo Zanetti, co-founder and CEO of Elemental Agency

Elemental, the Cape Town software partner behind the build, scoped and engineered the system with The Foyer through to launch. “We’re prioritising meaningful matches over mass reach,” says Angelo Zanetti, Co-CEO at Elemental. “The Foyer had a tremendous vision for the end product. In order to achieve this, we needed to unpack the vision and get extremely detail-orientated, firstly scoping out the project, designing the UI interface and then finally developing the entire platform including the scalable matching. The result is a platform that feels simple on the surface, but carries the logic to deliver fewer, better matches for users, and more qualified enquiries for agents.”

How it works:

  • Tell the system what you really want. Set detailed preferences (from pet-friendly to fibre to energy features) and weight deal-makers vs nice-to-haves.
  • Get a curated match list. See properties ranked by relevance. Fewer scrolls, better fit.
  • Stay organised. Save searches, track favourites, and keep your seeker profile and conversations in one place.
  • List with more context. Agents/owners capture richer attributes when loading a property. It takes longer upfront but yields more targeted, higher-quality leads.
  • Connect and decide. Shortlist the best-fit homes and engage directly with the relevant agents.

Looking ahead, The Foyer plans to expand listings nationally as adoption grows, continue refining its matching attributes, and add a dedicated mobile app experience. “Our goal is to help property seekers find homes that fit their lives, and help agents spend time with the right buyers and tenants,” concludes Terblanche.
