Epson strengthens presence in Africa with new Johannesburg office and Innovation Centre

Epson, a global leader in innovative technology solutions announces the opening of its Innovation Centre and office in Johannesburg. This milestone in Epson’s expansion strategy underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Africa and supporting the region’s digital transformation.

Located in the heart of South Africa’s commercial hub, the 530 sqm Innovation Centre will serve as a showcase for Epson’s latest technology solutions, with a strong focus on sustainability and industry growth. The centre will feature cutting-edge products, including the EF-22 portable smart laser projector, EcoTank printers with ultra-high-capacity refillable ink tanks for both home and small business use, and the energy-efficient WorkForce Enterprise Series business inkjet printers. These solutions are designed to meet the evolving needs of businesses in South Africa and across the African continent.

Timothy Thomas, country manager at Epson South Africa says, “The launch of our Innovation Centre in Johannesburg is part of our goal to expand our presence in South Africa and the broader African market. Our growing team in Johannesburg allows us to better serve the market and deliver tailored solutions that address the unique needs of our customers.”

The Innovation Centre is not just a local initiative but also part of Epson’s broader global commitment to research and development. The company invests over USD 305 million annually in R&D to create sustainable, innovative solutions.

As part of its global expansion, Epson also opened an Innovation Centre in Dubai in February 2025. With over 330 employees across the META-CWA region and 10 offices in key markets, Epson is positioning itself as a leader in providing tailored enterprise solutions across a wide range of sectors. The Johannesburg Innovation Centre will play a role in advancing Epson’s mission to drive innovation, sustainability, and growth across the African continent.
