Kwikspace Steps in With Smart Classrooms for Growing Durbanville School

La Vigne Educational House has expanded its learning facilities once again with the support of Kwikspace, reinforcing a six-year partnership built on trust, service and the ability to deliver quickly in challenging urban environments. In the heart of Durbanville, where space is tight, and demand for quality education continues to grow, the school required a solution that could accommodate rising enrolments without the long timelines or delays of conventional building methods.

La Vigne first partnered with Kwikspace in 2018 when a surge in applications created an urgent need for extra classrooms at short notice. The four 6-metre by 3-metre units supplied then served the school reliably for six years. By 2025, continued growth meant the school needed a more adaptable teaching space that could support both small group learning and larger sessions. Kwikspace upgraded the original units with its KwikLink modular solution, which allows classrooms to be joined or separated as needed by simply removing or reinstating the centre partition. Kwikspace also supplied two larger 6-metre by 6-metre classrooms for the expanding high school.

Kwikspace completed the project within one month from discussion to installation and carried out the work over a school holiday to avoid disrupting learners. Despite the surrounding trees and residential buildings posing a logistical challenge, Kwikspace used careful planning and specialised cranes to deliver and position the buildings safely and precisely. The school handled the only on-site preparation needed, which was light levelling.

Teachers have described the new classrooms as excellent learning environments and have expressed strong satisfaction with the upgrade. The KwikLink system’s flexibility supports La Vigne’s approach to small group learning, where individual attention is prioritised, and learners can progress at their own pace. The ability to open up larger rooms when needed also supports collaborative and multidisciplinary activities without requiring new builds or long lead times.

Kwikspace notes that the project highlights the value of long-term partnerships built on responsiveness and trust. Over the years, consistent support has strengthened the relationship with La Vigne’s leadership, who appreciate a supplier that understands their environment and adapts quickly as their needs evolve. “La Vigne has always felt different to other schools because they work with a genuine sense of family. That openness and trust make it easier to solve problems together and deliver the right spaces at the right time,” says Kwikspace representative Neil van Schalkwyk.

As La Vigne continues to grow, Kwikspace remains committed to supporting the school with adaptable modular spaces that help teachers create the right learning environment while offering flexibility and comfort in a space-constrained part of Durbanville.
