Digital detox: A guide to a calmer, less distracted festive season

0

Most of us keep our smartphones close at hand to keep ourselves connected, productive and entertained. While there is no disputing how essential mobile technology is managing our home, social and work lives, many people feel a distinct sense of digital overload.

The pings and constant vibrations from app notifications, the temptation to scroll mindlessly through social media feeds, and the inclination to take photos when you’d rather just enjoy the moment, it can all become overwhelming and distracting, especially if you are trying to relax or enjoy family time over the festive season.

TCL suggests some ways to ensure digital balance and wellbeing while still getting the most from your phone.

  1. Use Android’s focus tools to set gentle limits

Your Android smartphone will work with you in your goal of getting the right digital balance. The Digital Wellbeing dashboard lets you track how you are spending your time on your phone, including which apps you use the most and which send the most notifications. You can use Digital Wellbeing to set limits on the time you spend on certain apps to control digital overload.

  1. Pause notifications

One of the best ways to reduce digital distraction is to turn off non-essential notifications when you are enjoying the beach or chilling with your family. Using Do Not Disturb, notification categories, or scheduled quiet hours helps create clearer separation between personal downtime and digital activity. The Focus mode in Android Digital Wellbeing lets you select apps to pause temporarily.

  1. Find balance together

During family visits or group activities, simple rules, such as no devices at the table or one quick check-in per hour, help everyone stay present. If you’re looking forward to some digital-free family time, Digital Wellbeing can help. Family Link lets you connect a child’s device to your own so that you can set rules. You can create screen time limits, manage the apps and websites that your child uses, and even lock a child’s device remotely.

  1. Take some time for digital detox

December is a perfect time to reset your relationship with digital technology. It is an opportunity to think about using it more intentionally to create space for wellness, focus, and balance. Brief breaks, like phone-free mealtimes and an afternoon with the device in another room, can be mentally refreshing.

  1. Use hardware that supports comfortable viewing

Hardware like TCL’s NXTPAPER technology can make screen time feel more natural and relieve eyestrain, especially during long sessions. NXTPAPER 3 looks a lot like e-ink. It’s easy on your eyes, but is fully colourised and suitable for watching video and playing games.

  1. Use night modes when you are getting ready for bed

Late-evening scrolling often affects sleep. Android’s Bedtime Mode combines greyscale, reduced interruptions and dimmed brightness to support a calmer routine. It is a simple step that helps you wind down instead of stimulating your mind right before sleep.

  1. Use your smartphone to support your detox and mindfulness journey There are many apps for Android that can help you to manage your digital detox as well as practice mindfulness over the festive season:
  • Headspace: Explore science-backed exercises that help you care for your mind and boost mental health with meditation.
  • Calm: App crammed with guided meditation, sleep stories, soundscapes, breathwork and stretching exercises.
  • DetoxLock: Detox Lock is a powerful and simple app blocker to go cold turkey from distractions.
  • Digital Detox: Decide your own digital use rules for self-accountability and block out digital noise.
  1. Review your home screen

A cluttered home screen can encourage unnecessary tapping and scrolling. Remove distracting apps and those you seldom move from the first screen to reduce impulse use and stay focused.

  1. Use voice controls for quick tasks

Voice commands can help you send messages, set reminders or search for information without going into apps that might take your attention longer than necessary.

  1. Use offline modes

Downloading playlists, maps or reading material before travelling helps you stay entertained and do essential tasks without getting bombarded with updates.

Breaking Barriers to AI: The Role of Smart Payment Solutions in Driving Innovation

0

Dell continues to combine cutting-edge technology with intelligent financial repayment structures, empowering customers to align technology investments with broader business goals.

The race to integrate AI isn’t just about having the most advanced algorithms; it’s about making that technology accessible and sustainable for your business. For many IT leaders, the primary hurdle to adopting cutting-edge AI-enabled technology isn’t a lack of vision, but a lack of financial agility. Acquiring the necessary infrastructure often involves significant upfront capital, which can strain budgets and limit your ability to invest in other critical areas of growth.

But what if you could align your technology investments with your broader business goals, acquiring the powerful tools you need without compromising your financial stability?

This is where intelligent financial planning becomes a key driver of innovation. By combining state-of-the-art technology with flexible payment structures, businesses can confidently step into the future of AI.

The challenge: Balancing innovation with financial reality

A leading AI cloud computing company found itself at this exact crossroads. After 18 months of intense development, the company was projecting significant growth and needed to deploy Dell’s powerful AI-enabled technology to support its expansion. The challenge was clear: how to acquire this essential infrastructure without draining cash flow or sacrificing the financial flexibility needed for long-term success.

As one IT decision-maker noted, the goal was to acquire “the cutting-edge technology we needed while maintaining financial flexibility”. This is a common challenge for IT leaders who must deliver transformative results while managing tight budgets and proving return on investment (ROI).

A solution built for strategic growth

Understanding that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work, Dell developed a customised payment structure that gave the company a cost-effective path to acquiring and deploying the AI technology it needed. This approach was designed not just to finance a purchase, but to empower the company’s strategic vision.

The success of the project hinged on a two-part financial plan that provided both immediate relief and future control:

  • Easing the initial investment: Two-thirds of the initial cost was spread over 24 months. This immediately eased the budget strain, allowing the company to move forward with the project without a massive upfront expenditure.
  • Providing long-term flexibility: For the remaining balance, the company was given the option to either pay it off in full or extend the payments over another 12 months. This gave them added cash flow control and the ability to adapt as the project evolved.

By breaking the total cost into manageable pieces, the company could align its payments with project milestones and begin realising a return on its investment sooner.

The outcomes: More than just technology

This strategic approach to financing delivered powerful results that went far beyond simply acquiring new hardware. The AI cloud computing company achieved three key outcomes that position it for sustained success:

  • Seamless technology adoption: The company upgraded to a powerful AI solution without disrupting its budget, ensuring that financial constraints didn’t slow down its innovation timeline.
  • Long-term financial flexibility: With repayment terms tied to project milestones, the company accelerated its ROI and maintained the agility to respond to future opportunities.
  • Strategic readiness for the future: This flexible approach to financing can help the company pivot and scale as technology advances, keeping it ahead of the competition.

The sentiment was perfectly captured by an IT decision-maker at the company: “Dell provided us with a unique ability to acquire the technology we needed and remain financially flexible. With this repayment plan, we’re on track to realise a return on our technology ahead of schedule.”

Empower your business to innovate with confidence

The journey to AI adoption is a marathon, not a sprint. It requires not only the right technology but also the right financial strategy to support it. As this case demonstrates, intelligent payment solutions are a critical component of modern IT strategy, providing the stability and flexibility needed to drive progress without limitation.

Dell Technologies remains committed to empowering businesses with technology that drives human progress. By pairing innovative solutions with intelligent financial structures, we help you turn your vision into reality.

Holiday Roads Ahead: Eight Essential Tips to Protect Your Car – and Your Family – this Festive Season

0

As thousands of South Africans prepare to hit the road for the festive season, ensuring your vehicle is ready for the journey is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your family. Whether you’re driving to the coast, visiting relatives upcountry, or moving between holiday gatherings, long-distance trips place extra pressure on your car – and many of the breakdowns that occur on South African roads every Festive Season are entirely preventable.

According to Bhavish Vallabhjee, Product Manager at Engen, a few simple checks can mean the difference between a stress-free trip and hours stranded on the roadside. “You don’t need to be a technical expert to keep your car safe,” he says. “With a bit of preparation and the right products, you can avoid most mechanical issues that typically occur during the December rush.”

  1. Start with Your Tyres

Tyres are one of the most common causes of holiday breakdowns, yet they remain one of the most overlooked components. Vallabhjee explains that tyre pressure changes significantly when a vehicle is fully loaded or towing, which is why it’s essential to check the manufacturer’s recommended pressure before you leave. Drivers should also take a moment to inspect tread depth, look for cracking or uneven wear, and ensure their spare tyre is in good condition and that they have the locknut key if the vehicle uses anti-theft wheel nuts. Rotating tyres at each service also extends their lifespan and promotes even wear.

  1. Don’t Neglect the Heart of Your Engine: Your Oil

Engine oil is vital to your car’s health. As Vallabhjee puts it, “Oil doesn’t just lubricate – it cools and cleans your engine. Running low or using the wrong grade can cause severe and costly damage.” Before heading off on a long trip, motorists should check their oil levels and top up if necessary, then recheck after a few hundred kilometres. Oil should be replaced annually or at the service intervals recommended by the manufacturer, and it’s crucial to use the correct grade specified for the vehicle.

  1. Why the Right Oil Matters

Not all engine oils are created equal. Vallabhjee emphasises that South Africa’s environment – with its heat, dust and varied terrain – places unique demands on vehicles. “Engen Xtreme oils are formulated specifically for local conditions,” he says. “Whether you drive an older model, a taxi or a modern vehicle, there’s an Engen Xtreme product suited to your engine.” He urges motorists to request their preferred oil brand when servicing their vehicles.

  1. Check All Fluids – Not Just Oil

Several other fluids play a crucial role in vehicle safety and reliability. Coolant prevents overheating (especially important in hot, dry regions), brake fluid enables safe stopping distances, power steering fluid ensures smooth and responsive steering, and windscreen washer fluid improves visibility by removing insects and road grime. Vallabhjee recommends adding a small amount of liquid soap or specialised cleaner to the wash water to help clear stubborn debris from the windscreen.

  1. Make the Most of Your Forecourt Stop

A quick stop at a service station can prevent major problems later. Engen forecourt staff are trained to help motorists with tyre pressure checks, wiper inspections, window cleaning, oil top-ups and windscreen wash refills. “Engen service stations are equipped to assist with these basic checks,” says Vallabhjee. “Take the time. It improves safety and could save you money in the long run.” He also reminds drivers to look after themselves: stay hydrated, take regular breaks, and grab a Brazmata coffee or snack to remain alert.

  1. Fuel Matters Too

High-quality fuels can make a noticeable difference in performance, especially on long trips. Vallabhjee notes that products such as Engen Primax Unleaded and Engen’s ultra-low sulphur diesel (10 ppm) help keep engines clean, protect injectors and improve fuel efficiency over time.

  1. Plan Your Route – and Know Help Is Close

With the country’s largest service station footprint, Engen ensures that help is never far away. Vallabhjee points out that many of Engen’s 1 040+ forecourts can be found on all major routes and in most towns across South Africa, offering motorists peace of mind during long journeys.

  1. A Small Habit That Makes a Big Difference

If he had to offer just one rule, Vallabhjee says it would be this: “Stop at an Engen service station before and during your trip. Let the team run through the key checks – it gives you peace of mind and keeps your family safe.”

Drive Safe, South Africa

As we head into the busiest travel season of the year, a few minutes of preparation can prevent mechanical failures, reduce roadside emergencies and save you from costly repairs. Safe cars save lives.

Take your time, check your vehicle, and enjoy a smooth journey this festive season.

Move a little, Live a lot!

0

The festive season has a way of slowing us down, with long lunches, family gatherings and marathon binge watching sessions on the couch. Lovely? Absolutely. Good for our bodies? Not quite. As Dr Jessica Hamuy Blanco (Dr Jess), Product and Clinical Risk Executive at Dis-Chem, gently (and a little cheekily) reminds us, “our bodies were never truly made for all this sitting.” And yet, in modern life, sitting has become our full-time sport.

According to Dr Jess, the real danger isn’t just missing the gym; it’s the ripple effect of doing, nothing. When we’re parked in a chair for hours on end, our muscles fall out of balance, our hearts become a little less strong, and our health quietly starts to take the strain. In her words, movement isn’t a “nice self-care habit” reserved for those with matching workout sets. Instead, it’s an essential.

Dr Jess provides some useful tips that ensure exercise over the holiday season does not look like punishment.

Small steps that spark big change

You don’t have to sprint through the neighbourhood or squeeze into a high intensity interval class. Even small, manageable changes can greatly improve your health like ten-minute walk breaks between wrapping gifts? That counts. Popping out for a stroll after lunch? That counts too.

It’s all thanks to a ‘dose-response’ relationship with movement. The more you move, the more the benefits stack up. And if you’re starting from almost no movement at all, you’re likely to see the biggest improvements. A little effort truly goes a very long way.

Joggers

Movement is medicine

While we often hear about exercise helping with weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, or mood, movement also protects us where we least expect it – in our bones, our balance and in our future mobility. And thanks to epigenetics, those tiny bursts of movement can literally influence how your genes behave. Think of it as switching on the good stuff.

The mindset makeover we all need

Why then do so many of us still struggle to move? It’s partly because we’ve become disconnected from our bodies and because exercise is often framed in joyless, abstract terms.

People in the healthcare profession should start positioning regular movement as something that is not abstract. Let’s take a cholesterol measurement, for example – you’ve got this number to target, 4.5 and in the patient’s mind, it’s like, 4.5 of what? Telling someone to exercise for a cholesterol reading they don’t understand isn’t exactly motivating.

Instead, movement should be framed in terms of real, felt benefits:

How much more energy will you have? How much clearer will your mind feel? How much easier will daily life become? Suddenly, it becomes tangible, do-able even.

Excercise

A little festive reflection

So, as you enjoy the celebrations this year, take a moment to picture yourself decades from now. Will you still be able to lift your suitcase into an overhead bin? Dance at your grandchild’s wedding? Carry your shopping without a second thought?

Those future freedoms start with tiny choices today. A stretch here, a walk there, a moment to get your body moving. No pressure. No guilt. No bootcamp energy required.

Just movement, on your terms.

“Remember, every small effort adds up to lasting vitality and more freedom,” Dr Jess concludes.

Young Culinary Star Rorisang Moloi Bids Farewell to Taste Master Junior After Heartfelt Festive Challenge

0

Fifteen-year-old culinary prodigy Rorisang Moloi from Atteridgeville has been eliminated from The Taste Master Junior following a challenging festive-themed episode focused on the spirit of giving. Despite the setback, Rorisang’s bright creativity and passion for food as self-expression shone through, leaving a lasting impression on judges and viewers alike.

This week’s challenge called for baking with heart. Contestants were tasked to craft festive treats to gift to residents of a local old age home. Rorisang presented an ambitious trio of desserts: a baked pastry with caramel topping, a choux pastry topped with YUM YUM Peanut Butter mousse, and an orange curd tartlet.

Despite his best effort, judges Zola Nene and Fritz Schoon felt that Rorisang’s dish didn’t quite hit the mark for a gifting challenge. They said the presentation slipped a bit, likely because of timing pressures and focus placed on the wrong elements. As he departs the competition, Rorisang reflects on his journey, his elimination, and his favourite moments from his time on The Taste Master Junior

Rorisang, at just 15, you’ve shown incredible creativity on The Taste Master Junior. How has participating in the show changed the way you see food as a form of self-expression?

Being part of the show made me realise that food really is an art. I learned how to express love and emotion through the dishes I create, especially for the people who matter most to me.

This week’s challenge was all about giving back. How did it feel to create something festive for the residents of the local old age home?

I absolutely loved it. It felt so special to give back and make older people feel seen and appreciated, especially during a season filled with love and togetherness.

You prepared three different elements for the challenge. Which part of the dish were you most excited about?

Definitely the pastry with caramel. The TODAY pastry I used was amazing to work with. It really helped the idea come to life.

Receiving feedback under pressure can be tough. How did you feel hearing the judges’ thoughts?

It’s always nerve-wracking walking up for feedback, but the judges were always honest and constructive. Their compliments encouraged me, and their critiques helped me grow so much.

Despite the elimination, what are you most proud of from this week’s bake?

I’m really proud of my peanut butter mousse and my choux pastry. I’m definitely going to remake the orange curd tartlets for my family!

Looking back at your time in The Taste Master Junior kitchen, what achievement stands out most?

I’m proud that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and created dishes I never thought I could make. I grew so much with every challenge.

What’s one traditional recipe from home that inspired your cooking during the competition?

My family loves vegetables, so I experimented with veggie dishes a lot. One of those dishes even became a winning moment for me — it really showed me how creative I can be.

What’s the biggest mindset shift you’ve gained from the competition?

Learning to accept criticism and use it to improve. It was tough at first, but listening and making changes became one of my biggest strengths.

What’s next for you after the show?

I want to start creating food content and work on perfecting my baking skills. This is just the beginning for me!

  • LIGHTLOCK UPPER: The shoe introduces a first-of-its-kind lightweight, one-way stretch woven mesh upper that is paired with internal locking bands for a snug and secure feeling when running at high speed. This is matched with a new lacing system, which provides a locked-down fit for runners

Designed to provide consistent speed for fast workouts and tempo runs, the Adizero Boston 13 is the perfect training accompaniment to those who race in the Adizero Adios Pro 4. It features:

  • INCREASED LIGHTSTRIKE PRO: 13.8% more Lightstrike Pro foam makes the midsole softer and more comfortable than its predecessor

  • LIGHTTRAXION OUTSOLE: New for Adizero Boston models – and first seen in the marathon racer Adizero Adios Pro 4 – the LIGHTTRAXION patterned outsole construction is designed to reduce weight without sacrificing grip, by strategically placing it where it is needed the most

  • ENERGY RODS 2.0: Re-engineered energy rods provide forefoot economy return and dynamic stability, now more prominently featured for a race look in a training shoe

  • ENGINEERED MESH: The revamped mesh upper delivers lightweight breathability and targeted support in a sleek silhouette

SS26 Adizero Boston 13 and Adios Pro 4 in solar yellow will cost R3 299 and R5 499 respectively, and will be widely available from December 10th in stores, on adidas.co.za and via the adidas flagship app.

The AI arms race in the inbox: Why we have to let (the right) AI into our emails

0

With artificial intelligence (AI) now augmenting up to 80% of phishing emails and cybercriminals constantly upping their games, relying on employee training alone is both insufficient and damaging. To manage human risk effectively in this new landscape, organisations must deploy a defence that mirrors the threat: AI-driven security layers that work in tandem with a continuous culture of human awareness, says Anna Collard, SVP of Content Strategy & CISO Advisor at KnowBe4 Africa.

According to recent data from KnowBe4, phishing emails are on the rise, increasing by 17% between late 2024 and early 2025. More concerning is that 58% of these emails originate from compromised accounts, making them significantly harder to detect.

“We are seeing a fundamental shift in how attacks are constructed,” explains Anna Collard, SVP of Content Strategy & Evangelist at KnowBe4 Africa. “Threat actors are using generative AI to personalise attacks at scale. They can scrape public data to craft contextually relevant, grammatically perfect emails. The ‘gut check’ that employees used to rely on is being challenged by machines.”

Harder to detect threats

The sophistication is compounded by polymorphic attacks – which constantly change their attributes to evade detection – now featuring in the overwhelming majority of phishing campaigns. When a malicious email comes from a legitimate vendor or colleague’s actual address, traditional red flags like “lookalike domains” become irrelevant.

“Humans have cognitive limitations and are susceptible to stress, fatigue, and distraction,” Collard notes. “It is understandable that even the most security-aware employees can have momentary lapses in judgment when the deception is this precise.”

This reality is driving the industry toward a new paradigm: Human Risk Management (HRM). Unlike traditional security models that treat people as a problem to be fixed, HRM views the workforce as a dynamic attack surface that requires a combination of education, culture, and, crucially, adaptive technical defences.

The role of defensive AI

To counter AI-driven offense, organisations must deploy AI-driven defence. Modern cloud email security solutions act as an adaptive shield that works alongside the employee. By utilising machine learning, these systems analyse thousands of signals – tone, relationship strength, sending patterns, and metadata anomalies – that are often invisible to the human eye.

“AI-driven threat detection acts as an intelligent safety net,” Collard explains. “It analyses emails for malicious indicators before they reach inboxes. When threats are detected, the system provides clear warnings or blocks access, allowing legitimate work to continue while filtering out the noise. We all know how useful a second pair of eyes can be in our daily lives. AI is doing that for employees facing these threats now – and it comes at a crucial time.”

This technology provides a critical safety net. For instance, in a Business Email Compromise (BEC) scenario where a vendor’s compromised account requests a payment change, the email itself is technically “legitimate” as it comes from the correct server. However, an AI-driven defence layer would flag the anomaly: the tone is urgent, the banking details are new, and the request deviates from the established pattern of communication.

The feedback loop: Humans teaching machines

Critically, this is not about replacing human judgement with algorithms, but creating a symbiosis. One of the most powerful aspects of modern Human Risk Management is the feedback loop created between the workforce and the security platform.

“Technology provides the first line of defence, but human judgement often confirms the nuance,” Collard emphasises. “When an employee reports a novel threat, that intelligence helps the system learn. It turns a potential breach into a teaching moment, reinforcing the training without putting the organisation at risk.”

Future-proofing with Human Risk Management

As we look toward 2026, the convergence of threats will keep accelerating. Predictive threat intelligence and automated response orchestration are becoming standard requirements for maintaining digital resilience. “Organisations need to formulate a holistic Human Risk Management approach,” Collard maintains. “This includes identifying human-related risks, delivering personalised education, and integrating automation to handle the heavy lifting.”

Ultimately, the goal is to create an environment where security is a shared responsibility. By layering AI defences over a culture of vigilance, organisations can ensure that technology handles the volume and speed of attacks, while people remain equipped and empowered to handle the nuance.

When Work Stops Working: Why Fulfillment Is the New Benchmark of Productivity

It’s the silver lining for businesses across the globe, helping them achieve not only optimal operational productivity through employees but also the more elusive and valuable aim of fulfillment.

Employees are the core of every business; their skills and competence are essential to not only their own growth but also for the success of the company.

HP’s third annual HP Work Relationship Index (WRI) offers sobering insights into what has long been a gnawing pain point – work is simply not working. The global workforce is under pressure, and countries such as South Africa and Nigeria in Sub-Saharan Africa are no different.

Globally, just 20% of knowledge workers report having a healthy relationship with work, down 8 points from 2024.  Fulfillment at work has reached a historic low with the most significant drop experienced by business leaders.

“The most dramatic decline is among business leaders. Across industries and regions, employees report feeling overburdened, undervalued and under-resourced, with 62% of desk-based workers feeling that demands and expectations have increased over the past year,” the WRI notes.

The workplace has become more demanding but less fulfilling due to economic pressure, global disruption, and unequal access to technology. The disruption and isolation caused by these forces have also put pressure on the workforce.

Leadership experts have termed this quest of employees finding fulfillment in different areas of life as ‘quiet ambition’ and prizes a more holistic sense of satisfaction that workers want to achieve and not merely climbing the social ladder.

The WRI is unequivocal:  leadership can make or break fulfillment. “Fulfilled employees are 3 times more likely to feel connected to colleagues and achieve work-life balance, yet only 16% of knowledge workers trust senior leaders to make the right decisions for their people, down 13 percentage points from last year. High-EQ leadership is a key driver, but it remains in short supply, especially in large organizations,” the report states.

The importance of decent and fulfilling work is embedded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly Goal 8: “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. This goal emphasizes that while financial progress is essential, it must go hand in hand with the promotion of sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, as well as full and productive employment and decent work for all. That is why financial progress should not only create decent and fulfilling jobs but also safeguard the environment.

However, too often, workplaces become pressure cookers rather than places of purpose – where the relentless drive for productivity overshadows employee’s need for balance, recognition, and psychological safety. In both South Africa and Nigeria, this is compounded by broader socio-economic realities such as high unemployment economic uncertainty and widening inequality. Employees operate under constant strain to perform, often without adequate support systems, career growth opportunities, or emotional well-being frameworks. One report found that a staggering 85% of South African employees grappled with stress in their jobs, while another study found high levels of moderate stress in 77% of Nigerian bankers, indicative of the growing focus on holistic well-being and mental health in the workplace in both countries.

Furthermore, organisational engagement experts have found that only a quarter of South Africans find meaning and fulfillment in the work they do. In a country with an unemployment rate that stands at 33,2% (second quarter 2025), this reinforces the notion that “having a job you hate is worse than being unemployed”.

Technology alone cannot close the fulfillment gap, but it can be a powerful catalyst. Leaders must move beyond directive approaches and embrace enablers such as technology. When equipped with the right tools, employees report stronger connections to their work. Notably, 42% of those with a healthy work relationship use AI tools daily. When implemented responsibly, AI and automation can reduce routine tasks, freeing employees to focus on creative, high-impact work. The future of fulfillment is not about replacing human potential—it’s about leveraging technology to amplify purpose, autonomy, and connection.

As the WRI notes, “While technology alone cannot drive a company forward, it can empower the full potential of employees and drastically improve their work experience.”

In 2026, companies must prioritise fostering environments where employees feel genuinely connected, supported, and valued. Many employees no longer trust that leaders understand what they need, and this will push organisations to re-examine their approaches to management and care. As AI tools become more common, workers will use them to remove simple tasks and spend more time on work that feels meaningful. This shift will matter even more in regions facing economic challenges, such as South Africa and Nigeria, where high-stress and limited support are prevalent. Companies will see stronger teams and greater outcomes if they listen to employees and invest in transparent communication, encouraging managers and helpful technology. Ultimately, when employees feel fulfilled, they contribute more energy and purpose to their work.

Fulfilment, after all, is the new benchmark for productivity.
